By the age of 13, Wahlberg was addicted to cocaine and other substances. By 15 he had civil action taken against him for shouting racial slurs and tossing rocks at African-American children on a field trip.
At 16, Wahlberg was arrested for a racially-motivated assault against a Vietnamese man. He carries a felony record to this day from that incident. Sounds like homie could have used some weed to chill him out. So, is there any evidence of Mark Wahlberg smoking weed?
A while back, he told The Sun that Justin Bieber for smoking weed. My daughter asked what the smell was so I told her it was a skunk. So he publicly admitted to smoking weed in his past. In fact, he smoked enough that his daughters were able to recognize the smell the first time they encountered it in the outside world. As long as you're there for your kids and love them with all your heart, it really dosn't matter what you imbibe in as long as it dosn't detract from being a great parent. I guess a lot depends on the person.
At the risk of blowing my own bong, I smoke and am as good as it gets when it comes to fatherhood! I also earned two college with honors. Went on to secure a high paying job with lots or responsiblity and am still climbing the ladder.
Humor totally over the heads of most of the posters here. I would like to ask everyone here who is bashing the church remark, which is basically bashing Christianity, if they would respond the same way to someone who is a Muslim or practices Hinduism.
Why is it that your religion mocking and God jokes are not equal opportunity, but always directed at Christianity? Oh, could it be because it's so PC to pick on Christians? To me any sky daddy worshipping is just as insane as the next. I applaud Mark's desire to make positive life changes for the sake of his children. Unfortunately, he is at risk of trading one addiction for another.
Hard-core churchgoing particularly of the fundamentalist variety fits all the characteristics of an addictive habit. They are perfectly willing to damage relationships with friends and family if the church tells them to, just as addicts are willing to damage relationships with friends or family for the sake of their habit. They cannot go without it many of them actually believe they would lose all sense of purpose in life and morality if they stop, and that it is in fact impossible to have purpose and morality without their belief system.
They may be derelict in performance of their jobs as a result of it many pharmacists, for example, refuse to dispense birth control pills because of their beliefs, ie- they refuse to do their jobs , just as addicts are often unreliable employees. Religious people have disowned their own children because of their beliefs ask any gay teen; this happens a lot.
The similarities run across the board. I have no problem with religion. Any of them. They are based on non-provable philosophies on how we should conduct ourselves, and what the meaning of life is. I find them all interesting and with good and bad points. It's PEOPLE who get their hands on these ideas, and try and twist and distort them to gain: power, wealth, control, influence. I try to keep an open mind, work hard, be humble and honest, and treat people the way I want to be treated.
Arguing religion with some people is an exercise in futility, they're so opinionated and self righteous, it's like talking to a rock. I kinda laugh on the inside and move on. I have little time to waste. Think hard! Work hard! Play hard! Oh yeah, good for Mark. Freedom of choice. It appears as though MikeNYC knows everything.
I am still trying to understand how going to an accredited college or university could help anyone know what "Truly" happened? Accredited colleges may teach you a course in comparitive religions but this does not necessarily make it the truth. At the end of the day kasados theory is as credible as yours.
Do you really believe everything that is taught in college is true? I am so tired of you pseudo intellectuals. Use your brain Mike, books are written by man, and man is flawed. Smoking pot also can give you various kinds of cancer. And if you smoke one joint that's like smoking 20 cigarettes. I always thought it was like smoking 50 cigarettes.
You wouldn't happen to have a source so that we could check to see that we're not completely wrong about this?
I'm not very spiritual, but I respect anyone's decision to be god fearing, or to not be so. Why do y'all on both sides have to tear the other side down — are you getting something out of it? Let's have a little respect for one another. And, on a lighter note, I've never been a big Mark Wahlberg fan. I compare his acting to Kevin Costner that's acting?
But I do enjoy his "Entourage" creation, he was pretty good in "The Departed," and his part in "The Fighter" was made for him. On the flip side, "The Happening" was one of the biggest duds ever — he should have know better than to hook up with the floundering M. Night Shamylan. Maybe he should choose the safer option "BOOZE" which causes liver failure, addiction, domestic violence and teeth loss. You will die if you smoke pot!! I bet that statistic is hard to come by, because it doesn't!
The chemicals in weed are natural. You got it all F'd up in 11 man.. Everything in moderation and tact. You don't smoke then go to church..
Not true. He stopped smoking pot because when he was doing it, he had the drug-induced delusion that he could be a viable rap star. That whole "Marky Mark" thing makes a lot more sense now. It's safer to be stoned around kids than to be drunk, for several reasons. But, it's safest to be neither. Not quite sure how this went from someone quitting smoking pot, to a Christianity debate I am really happy that he was able to drop such a terrible habit.
It is detrimental to families, and can ruin lives. I know people say it's the "friendly" drug, but in my experience it causes nothing but trouble.
I am not a smoker, never have been. However, I've had relationships with two men who did. It cost one of them his job, and after we broke up I found out he went to prison just a year later for failed drug test. There is nothing good about it. It can cost you your job, your freedom, and your family.
I don't condemn people who smoke, however, I do lose just a bit of respect for people that still smoke with kids around. Not the example I would want to set for my kids. Sounds like the problem for your boyfriends was with the illogical drug laws, not with weed itself. I was bored so I read all the comments. You people are crazy. There is no proof jesus ever walked this earth.
There is no afterlife. There is no hell, no heaven, no other place. You waste you existence trying to explain it without living it. Just go and BE. I have the same story.
Id puff after getting off the train from work on the way home in the car and my kids used to say Daddy smelled like the city. So I stopped doing it on the drive home. About a year ago and about 3 years after I left the city job, I puffed and my kids said, Daddy smells like the city again.
It killed me. So I dont smoke at all. My thoughts exactly. Are we the only two people who remember this? Not only was he lying to his daughter, he was lying to the entire musical community almost 20 years ago. It's funny how his only reason for quitting was his daughter complaining of the smell. It didnt ruin , his life, his brain, and he wasnt beheaded by a cartel.
Once those kids are out of the house, you better believe Mr. Wahlberg will be lighting up again. I believe that God's spirit or force is present in everthing The Universe like God has always existed and always will. There is scientific evidence to support this if you look hard enough with an open mind. So argueing about who created the Big bang or who created God is pointless. Also, any substance can be abused but it's quite obvious that Pot is much safer than alcohol.
Pot should be legal. Just my opinion. Peace out. About , people die a year from smoking cigs. Number of people dying a year from straight up weed: zero. Everyone just needs to relax. Absolutely nothing will come from this. Wahlberg is a great actor, thats all that matters. Now, I just wanna know why I see more comments about religion on here than about Mark Wahlberg. If its because he is now going to church, whats the big deal?
He gave up weed because his kids thought he smelled like a skunk. He is doing something that will keep him away from weed. Who cares if its church or not? Ok, I'm a Christian. Go ahead and hate me if you want. But I was taught in church to love and accept one another, even if they don't believe the same as you. I have friends with all sorts of backgrounds, and people should be judged by their character, not their religious views.
If God is omnipotent, than his knowledge of the past and present is absolute. God tells me I have free will. God new every person in Hell would end up in Hell before he made them. Oh, no! Someone mentioned church! Quick, start bashing anyone of faith! I don't know anyone or heard of anyone who is successful in life and smokes pot. Potheads can't make it through school long enough for a white collar degree, and to be successful, like it or not, usually education is required and to make the money.
I got a masters degree, have a greeat job and blaze everyday, buddy. It's ridiculous how some of you people are completely clueless about marijuana.
Oh really?? You must run in a very small circle or your "white collar" friends have been holding out on you! My husband, a pot smoker, is a very successful IT Director for a large company. His circle includes many "white collars" that enjoy toking as well. So Marky MArk, the twit that got the youths to start wearing their pants pulled down with their underwear showing has traded one crutch for another. This does not elevate him to the status of someone with a bright idea. Siddell Are you such an egotist that anything you do not understand must be of holy origin?
Invoking an invisible man in the sky that you have to "just believe in" is not a reasonable explanation for anything. Worse it keeps mankind from facing this one truth, Once you have died there is not further thought, so life is the most precious thing there is, not some fake afterlife.
As unpleasant as it sounds when you die you get buried and your body and brain rot look it up. Further, your thoughts emanate from your brain if it gets damaged your thoughts change , it operates though electrochemical processes no soul needed. Once those processes cease there is no more you, just an unused pile of molecules. I can only assume he gave up drinking for his kids, too.
I was really hoping he was going to say that he stopped because of his brother Donnie. Cause, you know, Drugs Suck! Well, in any case, good for him.
Really Oh please i don't belive him. And I'am his fan. Second his going to wash his mouth with Rembrandt mouth wash the one that taste like pepermint. The end of the story. I don't know how most of these posts even relate to the topic I'm so entertained from this blog Your laughing now aren't you Thats great i did it for my daughter too and i wanted to be more like christ so Mark keep up the good work cause its nothing like a fathers love for his kids and GOD.
Wow, you read about a man that is trying to be a better example for his children and this is the postings?? I couldn't even read all of them without feeling sick, look around the world it is a mess and it's because most of the population does not believe in God. If you don't that is your choice, but it always amazes me the people that don't believe in Him spend a lot of time talking about Him.
All I can say is you'll get yours and I'll get mine on judgement day, remember these words. WOW, you think society is a mess because so much of the population does not believe in God? You don't think it was a mess when society was pretty much completely ruled by religion and believers in Christ were killing other believers in Christ merely because they had different interpretations of Christ's teachings? Well, I suppose I am a little more optimistic about how far humanity has come being ruled by logic and reason.
I think we've had some amazing progress in just the last hundred years when it comes to things like human rights. Not to mention all the scientific, medical and technological advancements. Of course there are still exceptions, but over all, I see positive progress. And what's wrong with talking about "Him"? What's wrong with gaining a deeper understanding of faith and it's current role in society through debate?
Do you not have enough faith in your own faith to question it? Are we forgetting that this 'hollywood star' had a violent past? Who cares if he 'found Jesus'. In his youth he was a thug!! He blinded a Vietamese man in one eye — has he made recompense — NO! How do we, the public idolise these so-called 'stars' , by putting them on a pedastal.
I bet you that he will not!! Why should I fuel his coffers when the victims of his crimes are probably living in dire straights. Hopefully you will read this Mark — so think about the consequences of your actions! I worked at a club back in the day when he was markie mark , where he started a stupid drunken fight with someone and crashed the fish tanks thousands of dollars worth and was thrown out of the club. He was such an arrogant idiot back then and a marginal actor now. He acts the same in every movie.
It's the healing of the nation One Love. Can't hurt you at all Wow, I've never gone to church stoned. I'd love to catch one of those "fire and brimstone" sermons while high!! You know with all that "souls tortured forever in a lake of fire" drama!! Set to that cheesy organ!!
Yes, I've got to do that soon!! What other things does he now NOT do because of his kids??? Great to use that as an excuse to change your behavior Just because something is "illegal" doesn't mean its immoral.
It used to be legal to have slaves in this country. Alcohol used to be illegal. Laws are man made, and change with the times. Open your mind and ask yourself should a man be thrown in a cage for using a drug that was put here by God and that he can grow in his own backyard? Wait a minute. Lucifer just called and he's not happy with you using his other name.
He bestows the name Sloth to you. Use it now and forever or suffer the consequences. He said something about a power surge to your Xbox if you don't comply.
I have a bottle of Southern Comfort and a bong full of Casey Jones - parent's night out! We can watch vintage Tracy Lord's movies together too! Pakistani ISI and govt officials like one who murdered boss last week? Northern Sudanese who repressed the south until they seceded? Iranian govt who repress their entire country for most part? American "christians" who hate gays, illegals, "liberals" and anyone smarter than Sarah Palin ie my dog?
Steveo: Please review the posts above. Areligious folks attacked religion, Christianity specifically, and religious folks replied in defence of their beliefs. Are those who subscribe to religion to quietly put up with attacks and insults without responding? If we do, are we then religious nut jobs? At least act consistently Steve. You also cite to much evil done in the name of religion.
You are right, much evil has been done in the name of religion. However, ask yourself, how many tens or hundreds of millions died in the 20th Century alone in the name of athiest communism or nazism. Painting all religions with a broad brush is really sloppy and careless and bad reasoning. Will you then reject all the good done in teh name of religion too? I bet he is a right wing dog and you dont even know it. I see a pattern.
A pattern of utter nonsense, hard left psycho babble, incoherent partison rhetoric, revisionist history, extreme anti-religious bigotry, and willful ignorance. A pattern of anti-social and delusional behaviour.
I see a dark and base pattern that has an uncanny and creepy resemblence to that of Jared Loughner's. I also see a pattern seeping out and manifesting itself into a vile physical ugliness, bulging angry eyes, twisted clown smile, and wretched bad breath. How about lightning the hell up for starters! Holy crap man, go out with some friends, pay for some love, let your greasy hair down.
Follow that up with copious amounts of vaporized Grand Daddy Purple and a long dip in the river Jordan don't forget the Clorox. Times up, good day, see you next week. Instead of saying "it's a skunk," how about "it's something that grown-ups use instead of alcohol sometimes" Everybody chill out and smoke a blunt ya?
Really you guys dont have anything better to do like take care of your kids or go to church, after all it is wednesday. I believe bigfoot is real as well as the Lochness monster. Haven't seen them yet. Probably just as real as God. Im sad to see this story has not anti-Democrat or anti-Republican comment yet. The Choobs: No, a statements by a person reporting that persons actual experience and observations is not hearsay. Direct reports by eye witnesses is not hearsay it is direct evidence and is admissible to prove the matter asserted in the testimony.
Doesn't surprise me that you seem to want to fight about it. How many wars have been fought over religion? How many more must die in the name of your "God"? Many simply cannot be convinced that god does NOT exist.
There is also an increasing number of individuals that cannot be convinced that god DOES exist. That's just the way it is. If you want us to respect your faith, then you are just going to have to respect our lack of faith. Rob, Religion is a sign of a species stil in its adolescent stage of development. If there was a 'creator' of this exsistance, 'his' 'powers' are far beyond comprehension of the human mind.
God made many things that we as human beings have unfortunately misused to our own detriment. Marijuana included. Rob, I believe oil was put in the earth by God as a test, and mankind has failed miserably.
God didn't create this world to be destoyed by greed, he has offered so many power sources that do not pollute, wind, the sun, water. Anyone who uses oil is going to hell for destroying God's creation To Siddell: If, as you say, neither matter nor energy can be naturally created, then how was god created?
Really, I'm interested. Do you also believe that the earth is only 6, years old, and in talking snakes? I prefer to believe Einstein and Stephen J. What is it that you know that they don't? This has been the most enjoyable thread I've read in a long time.
There's too many tangents to get into detal over any in particular, but here's a synopsis:. I've enjoyed the herb for most of my life, since my first toke in a hole in Vietnam. Reefer is a lot less harmful than AK rounds or gernades, and I say this with the proof of experience.
Smoke it or don't, this used to be a free country. The same goes for religion: if it makes you a better person that's great; if it's a nonessential item in your life and you're still a decent person that's fine too. Many years ago I went to Jamaica and the rastas treated me like a long lost brother, so I think they're fine people. I don't need "proof" of Jesus or God, I just don't buy the creation myth, from whatever culture. Logic tells me that this experience of existence was always here and will probably always be here, in somekind of manner.
Even the "big-bang" — there had to be something moments before it that existed to go "boom". I buy the fact that we are here to evolve spiritually and physically. You are free to believe or not, just don't persecute me for being different than you. If you have to execute me for my beliefs, at least let me smoke a joint before you pull the trigger. I like this guy a lot. Class act and damn good actor. Finally somebody worth a damn in Hollywood.
Right on Mark! I bet the convenience store owner he permanently blinded during a botched robbery when he was a teenager would beg to differ. Class act my ass. So he lied to his daughter rather than tell her what it was?
In other words, he thought it was okay to break a minor law BUT not okay to admit that to his kids and defend his actions? Good thing he rushed off to church to figure out his whacky morals. Me, I smoke pot — and I tell my kids exactly what it is I do when they ask, how I view it in terms of the law it's not an easy conversation Same quandry And I remind them that none of us is perfect and we all have to struggle to find our own path of rightousness.
I will not be a hypocrite about my pot use. And BTW, I was pulled over by the CHP the other night for speeding with over an OZ in the car, and the officer didn't give a crap about the pot she found and let me drive off with it it's only an infraction in CA now Interssting times Kids don't need to know everything about their parents.
One more point, so many folks cite "science" as if it is some sort of religion or dogma. This is not true. Science is no more or less than a method of seeking answers to a question- it is a method, nothing more. The word "science" does not mean truth. Dave: If your father is a lawyer I suggest you ask him about evidence. The testimony of a person who reports an experience with God is evidence. The testimony of many people who report experiences with God is even more powerful evidence.
For you to simply dismiss those reports is bad reasoning and sloppy thinking. I suspect you are smarter than that. Siddell's arguments are strong arguments. Untimately, the proof of God we are all required to find is the same- our own experience with Him. The invitation is the same to all, seek him yourself. I and many others have had experience with God and we report on that experience. The authors in the scriptures, prophets and apostles, report on their experiences and are commissioned by God to be his witnesses and representatives.
You have the choice to either act on those invitations or not. God also speaks to us through his agent and messenger the Holy Ghost, who speaks to our minds and spirits. Again, you and all others are invited to listen, follow God's standards and laws, and come unto Christ, His Son and chosen Saviour. You have the choice to reject or follow, and I support your right to choose and your freedom of conscience.
What I don't understand is why you feel the need to mock others' faith in this forum, when the topic you raise is at best weakly related to the story. I will also note that despite your comments above, neither you nor anyone else can prove that God does not exist. On the other hand the entire natural world is evidence of God. In short, there is only one thing any of us can do relative to God, either seek Him for yourself or don't seek Him.
That is by design to prove each of us individually. Rob, that kind of "evidence" is essentially hearsay, which is admissible but is generally given VERY little weight in deliberations. If Hearsay and Eye Witness Testimony are to be considered, then I am almost certain we are being invaded by anal probing grey Aliens. You may be able to put Santa Claus on trial but the Theory of Santa Claus would never pass peer review. Of course one must always consider the source of testimony and evidence when weighing its value.
I take great care to listen then weigh the source of evidence and then evaluate it for myself. However, the same goes for so called "scientific" evidence. Scientific evidence is only as trustworthy as the individuals using the scientific method.
Additionally, the scientific method is itself as limited as those who use it. Thus, the scientific method is only as good as the human ability to observe and test and think.
A limited method indeed. Again, the word "science" does not mean truth, it only means one of many methods we as humans use to try to discover the truth about the world around us. One more point, I have worked with many so called "scientific" experts who present scientific evidence in a legal setting trials, mediations, etc.
It is amazing how many varied results so called scientific evidence can lead to, even when all are using the same underlying operative facts. We should not just accept a proposition blindly because it is "scientific. Those who smoked the last of it on Sunday and won't see their dealer till Friday, I would guess. Cannibis is in the Bible, in Exodus, it's part of the temple annointing oil.
So, Marky Mark should be toking up at his pagan churchianity meetups! He used the Church reference as a shameless attempt to look good to the public — are you really that naive? What a shameless ploy. There is nothing wrong with pot and THAT is what he should have told his daughter.
Maybe he can now spend the money he spent on pot and buy himself some much-needed acting lessons. Mark Wahlberg is a great actor. You're definitely in the minority, Jane. I have never liked the guy — at all, but I do have to admit that he does have some considerable talent. Nonny: what exactly does "some considerable" talent mean?
That's like saying he has a little a lot of talent. Actually, I am ex-smoker too, ages 15 to Just quit a few months ago, didn't want my kids calling me their kids "pot smokin' granny". Also have more available cash to spend on my grandkids. Dave, redshift does not equal distance. Therefore, the basis big bang theory is fundementally wrong. We have no idea how the universe was created and most likely never will.
So I knew I had quit. Wahlberg had a long rap sheet as a kid, estimating that he had run-ins times with the Boston police. Addicted to cocaine and other drugs, he ran with a street gang and was charged with attempted murder -- pleading guilty to assault. And while it took a short stint in jail to end the crime spree, being a father to four children -- Ella Rae, 7; Michael Robert, 4; Brendan Joseph, 2; and Grace Margaret, 1, with wife Rhea Durham, finally led him to kick the last habit.
News U. Politics Joe Biden Congress Extremism.
